The Beginnings
People With A Mission Ministries, or “P-WAMM” as it is affectionately known, was set up and received its charitable status in 1986. This charity status was later updated to keep in line with the ever changing laws that govern the day to day operations of a charity. So, in 2003 PWAMM became a Company limited by guarantee.
When sharing on how PWAMM was conceived, and then birthed as a ministry in 1986, it is necessary to emphasize something from the outset. That something is quite simply, that the vision of PWAMM did not originate, nor was formulated, in the mind of any one particular person as a “good idea”. It is firmly believed, not just by its founders and directors Mervyn and Jane Milne, but also by all who are committed to and are actively involved in the fulfilling of the PWAMM vision, that its source is to be found in the heart of our Heavenly Father.

In 1985 the words communicated by the Spirit of God to (and subsequently through) his servants Mervyn and Jane, express the source of the PWAMM ministry.
“Man has many dreams that they want to fulfil for Me, and because I have seen their hearts I will allow them to fulfil those dreams, but can I find a man who will stand still long enough to listen to Me, for you see, I have a dream that I want to see fulfilled in the midst of thee”

These “words” were to seriously impact and challenge Mervyn and Jane. They repented of their own plans and schemes of “doing things” for the Lord and purposed to surrender their lives to the discovering of His specific will and purpose that the Lord had apprehended them for.

. . . the beginning of the PWAMM ministry was not on account of 'a good idea'.As has already been emphasized, the beginning of the PWAMM ministry was not on account of 'a good idea'. For, if that were the case, it would have gone by the wayside many years ago. In its twenty two years, thus far, of mission work across Scotland it has faced many obstacles, trials and tribulations. It has been buffeted on many fronts yet still going forward true to the vision given by God.  Only by the supernatural power of God and an abundance of His amazing grace could the PWAMM ministry, the majority of its full time staff, and the volunteer support workers have stayed together for such a length of time and the ministry itself develop into what it is today.

Since 1986, PWAMM has experienced the many covenant blessings of God. Without exaggeration it would be true to say that over the years, through PWAMM and its ministry outreach arms, thousands of people have come under the blessings of God’s covenanted love, grace and mercy in a variety of ways. This has been most notable in the many souls who have personally appropriated God’s gift of repentance and faith for salvation.
From late 1984 to 1986, Mervyn and Jane came together at their home in Perth on Saturday evenings to seek God’s way forward for themselves and to
pray for the city of Perth and the nation of Scotland.  Their prayer focus in those early years, was and still is, that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ would remember His holy covenant and rend the heavens and come down in visitation power upon His people and the communities of Scotland.

thousands of people have come under the blessings of God’s covenanted love, grace and mercy in a variety of waysAs they faithfully came together to pray the Holy Spirit began to lead others to join with them. It was whilst in a season of fasting and prayer that this small body of believers began to sense God’s desire to work in and through them. The call and vision to “take God’s power and presence back to the communities of Scotland”, which had been given, in the first instance, to Mervyn and Jane, began to be communicated by the Holy Spirit to others within the prayer group.

This was not a case of casual speculation but the result of the Holy Spirit at work, over a period of time, guiding them by the Scriptures and through the operation of His gifts. This people became persuaded that God was indeed preparing and calling them to be involved with Him in a powerful manifestation of His glory, presence and power that was to visit the nation of Scotland. This “visitation” would take place in His perfect timing. They believed that they were to allow the Holy Spirit to break, melt and mould them to take their place alongside the company of other people whom He was also raising up and preparing for these last days – indeed a “people who shall be willing in the day of His power. . .” (see Psalm 110)

However, when talking about the beginnings of PWAMM, we have to go back much further than the 1980’s.
