"Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in song" - that's the main purpose of "The Upper Room Singers", Perth Christian Fellowship's choir. It is not a traditional church choir, in that they don't have a 'slot' in the Sunday service when they sing while everyone else listens.

It is predominantly an outreach ministry, involved in evangelism campaigns of various sorts. They regularly take part in Tent Mission crusades, and have been invited to participate in events as diverse as Salvation Army concerts, Women's Institute meetings, and Senior Citizens' outreach lunches.

The choice of songs is all-important, not only from the musical perspective, but in terms of getting the message of salvation to the people. There are many who will not come to church or attend outreach meetings, but who will listen to a choir. If something of the good news of God's saving grace in Christ Jesus can be given through the lyrics of a song, then it is seed well sown.
